How to high-light your figure with a belt | Jak podkreslic swoja figure paskiem

Everybody looks different. We all have different body shapes and we all want to look great. It doesn't matter how tall you are, what is your size or your body shape... we all can high-light our figures with a simple belt. But, to do this successfully you firstly have to know your body shape, which you can find out here.

If you are a pear shape, you can high light your delicate waist by choosing a discreet and quite invisible belt, preferably the belt should be in a colour of your outfit and quite thin.  The important thing is that you wear it around your waist and not your hips, so that they don't look bigger and you don't draw attention to them.


A triangular body shape will have wider shoulders, smaller hips and waist. You should choose a belt that will make your hips look bigger, so go for a thick belt that draws all the attention. You can do this by paring your outfit with a belt that is in a contrasting colour, has a different texture or with a big buckle...the list is endless. But remember to always put it around your hips so that the will appear fuller and balance the wider shoulders.

An hourglass shape has a small waist and the top half is in a similar size to the bottom half so wear a belt around your waist, no matter what is your size, to draw the attention to your silhouette. There should be a range of different coloured and textured belts in your wardrobe,so you can match them with all your outfits. However, if you are skinny, choose ticker accessories.

If you are a rectangular shape, your shoulders and hips are narrow and the waist is wide, you can wear more baggy tops or trousers (one or the other) which will make your figure appear fuller. The perfect belt for this type of figure is a belt with a thick texture or a decoration, such as a bow, fringe,or pleats. You can also go for a thick belt with a contrasting colour. And remember to wear it lower on your hips and never around your waist!

An apple shaped body has a rounder stomach, narrow hips and wider waist, a belt in this type of figure can draw the attention away and split the body in half, making the stomach to appear smaller. The belt should be thin, basic and preferably in the colour of your outfit or toned down. You can wear it in two ways, if you are wearing a loose, baggy top or a sweater, you can wear the belt on your hips. But if you are wearing a fitted top or a dress, put the belt just below your waist.
